Happy New Year - I hope yours has started well! Mine has begun with recovery from gum surgery and many bowls of sweet potato and broccoli soup with kelp flakes!
My new favourite soup to be exact, and one of several that I lived off for many days after tissue grafting, when I needed soft food and plenty of nourishment for speedy healing. I'm a huge fan of kelp, dulse and other sea vegetables since they support the immune system and are known to reduce inflammation. I like to sprinkle them over a bowlful of food at least two or three times a week.
We also make sure to eat broccoli sprouts on a regular basis. Sulforaphane, the natural chemical that's released from the sprouts as you chew, is a highly potent antioxidant and detoxifier. So broccoli sprouts, which are more potent than whole broccoli, have been hailed as a superfood linked with benefitting a long list of conditions such as allergies, hypertension, ulcers, heart disease and even cancer! Using this sprouter with these seeds, is how we get them into our diet - it's quick, simple and way cheaper doing it yourself and, of course, you're getting them super fresh for a far greater nutrient harvest.
Finally, a few cups of bone broth, together with a scoopful of collagen stirred in before serving is a sure fire way of ingesting extra minerals. All important for gut (and gum) health! You can find the recipe here at Autoimmune Wellness.
Aloha, I don't see the actual recipe here for the sweet potato and broccoli soup. Where can I find it? Thank you !
