When Maria sent me a review copy of 'Zesty Scoop' and asked if I'd write a testimonial, I was only too happy to oblige. Her first eBook is very novel, extremely imaginative and also a LOT of fun!
Who'd have thought that a range of frozen delights could make their way, not just into your dessert bowl but onto your dinner plate too - think Avocado & Olive Oil Sorbet, Tzatziki Frozen Yogurt or Wasabi Cucumber & Watercress Frozen Yogurt in amongst your salad. How about a scoop of Garlic Ice Cream sitting atop your prime roasted steak (ohmagosh)? Smoked Salmon Ice Cream on a grain free blini? Or Anchovy Ice Cream with Olives & Capers to accompany your roasted veggies over dinner?
If the savoury options aren't your style, you'll definitely love Zesty Scoop for the pairing of sweeter flavours such as Papaya & Carrot, Roasted Strawberry Rhubarb, Raspberry Avocado & Mint, Blueberry & Lemon or Kiwi & Lime Sorbets. Or Mixed Berry Spinach, Purple Sweet Potato, or Pumpkin Ice Creams. And more. YUM, my mouth is watering just writing about them!
What I love, apart from the mouthwatering range of choice, is the fact that ice cream no longer has to mean inflammation, anti-healing and blood sugar spikes. Maria has proved it can be just as much about balancing healthy fats, trying out new ingredients, varying the diet, and getting an extra portion or two of vegetables into your day - take note if you have children who are "iffy" about their intake, this could be your saving grace! 😉
So prepare to dust off your ice cream machine because, as Maria says herself, adding flavours to your meal has never been so much fun!

I like the sound of Roasted Strawberry Rhubarb - yum!
I love ice cream - all flavors. But I tend to gravitate to strawberry.
This looks perfect for the sunny weather we're having. My favorite flavor is blueberry but I'd love to try the sweet potato version.
Keen to try the Roasted Strawberry Rhubarb - sounds delish!
What inspiring ice cream flavor combinations!
I love a good mint (carob) chip 🙂
I have an ice cream maker but haven't put it to much use. I have only made one recipe...the ginger peach but I'd love to experiment some more.
My favorite ice cream flavor is vanillà, because you can turn it into so many different kinds, such as adding peaches and raspbrries, and you have peach Melba!
That is such a hard question!!!! Chocolate anything! The more chocolate the better, as long as there is no gluten!
I like pretty much all icecream - but not the olive oil icecream from Sarah's book. I am an icecream afficionado but had to give that up when I started teh AIP protocol. Being a supertaster I really haven't found a suitable substitute but I have found reasonable alternatives. My favourite flavour is fig and orange, although vanilla is a good allrounder for adding to other dishes like rhubarb and apple crumble.
Woah the ice cream creations are so unique! Looks like a very beautiful and well put together selection!
Strawberry has always been my favorite ice cream.
